Colour blindness is actually an inaccurate term as people who are colour blind can actually see colours but cannot easily distinguish between certain colours. This has nothing to do with visual acuity and sufferers may see perfectly well, in fact research has shown that they have a heightened awareness of textures and brightness more so than people who are not colour blind.
